Mission
The primary mission of Turkey’s Foundation for the Training and Protection of Mentally Handicapped Children is to provide the necessary conditions and structure for Turkey’s mentally handicapped children to have access to sufficient education, rehabilitation and care opportunities, to help them develop job skills and ensure their sustainability and to provide them the support they need throughout their lives.
The goals of our foundation, as listed in our bylaws, are as follows:
Goals
To build and ensure continued, efficient operation of education and rehabilitation centers for mentally disabled children who apply to our Foundation either directly or though their families.
To help mentally disabled children or adults acquire necessary job and employment skills based on their talents through programs of appropriate length.
To establish mechanisms in which products and commodities produced by mentally disabled individuals are marketed and efficiently used to better services offered to these individuals.
To establish assisted living facilities and dormitories for mentally disabled children and adults, to provide them with lifelong care and possibly find families willing to adopt such individuals
To provide lifelong care for mentally handicapped children whose parents donated a sufficient amount of funds or income to the Foundation prior to their death. The Foundation also promises to provide education and care for mentally handicapped children of families who have volunteered or worked for the Foundation for at least 10 years in order to encourage volunteer participation. The 10 year requirement is waived for parents who pass away while actively working for the Foundation.
To find employment for and monitor the progress of mentally handicapped children who have successfully completed their educational programs and to make sure that they get the best opportunities possible under the current law.
To stimulate or perform research on the causes of mental diseases and provide the public with prevention measures based on resulting findings.
To establish proper means to offer IQ tests to the children of families who apply to the Foundation.
To take under our protection orphan children whose IQ is above %25 and whose mental handicap has been diagnosed by an authority recognized by our Foundation and established by a court decision.
To provide both financial and emotional help for poor families with mentally disabled children.
To carry out all other related and beneficial activities.
