• Foundation's Mission

Our Niksar Branch was established in October of 1988, under the presidency of Güler Öz. Starting with tits establishment, it coordinated its activities with the Ministery of Education, to begin offering education and rehabilitation services in Niksar. As it continued these services in temporary quarters, much effort also went into making the construction of its own school facility a reality. In spite of the difficulties we faced by our location in a County, with support from the helping hands of the citizens of Niksar, we were able to complete the construction of our building which is specifically designed for the mentally disabled children of our city. Our Education and Rehabilitation building opened for service on February 25, 1998, with a special ceremony and the participation of the Prime Minister, at that date, Mesut Yılmaz and his wife Berna Yılmaz and the Secretary of State Metin Gürdere.

The building of our Education and Rehabilitation Center is planned and built on a 3.5 acre land. It includes 400 m2 of enclosed space. It has its own yard and garden and a park area for play. Our facility is in a quiet location away from the city center.

Today, our Niksar Branch offers its high quality education and rehabilitation services in this beautiful city, which is a County of Tokat, and continues being a beacon of hope for the mentally handicapped children of our area and their families.

Niksar Education and Rehabilitation Center

In our Education and Rebilitation Center, we give our services to approximately 50 mentally handicapped children, including those who have no social security support.

In our Education and Rehabilitation Center, we have staff members such as: the Director in Charge of the facility, Social Services Expert, Child Development Expert, Physical Therapist, Psychologist, Pre-School Teacher, Classroom Teacher, as well as professional staff members like our Doctor, Nurse, Child Educators, and, also, staff members who are responsible for services as our Accountant, Cook, Service and Cleaning staff, and Driver.

The following service spaces are located in our Rehabilitation Center: Administration Office, Therapy Room, Work-handcrafts Room, Physical Therapy-Sports Room, Music Room, Workshop, Dining Room, and Bathrooms. In these spaces, we hold the following education sessions which are conducted by our expert staff members:

• Individual Education,
• Group Education,
• Workshop Education,
• Professional Rehabilitation,
• Family Education,
• Social and Environmental Education,
• Agricultural Teaching and Education.

1. To expand and enlarge the Rehabilitation center to accept dormer students who will stay day and night so that we can reach all handicapped individuals of the villages in the vicinity.
2. To increase the number of the non-paying students in our Rehabilitation Center.
3. To provide for opportunities for children with disabilities at a young age, to help them develop their skills in various activities and professions, so that we can aid in eliminating their economic concerns and help them become productive citizens in the future.
4. To act as model for other Rehabilitation Centers in Turkey, though these are few right now, and lead in the needed encouragement for more of these in provincial County centers.
