• Foundation's Mission

The Kayseri Branch was established on May 20, 1998, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Sefer Kumandaş and with much selfless support from İnci Cengiz and Hasan Dağ. Right away, our Branch started offering its services in a temporary building. As the number of students and applications from families are continually increasing, we are currently searching for an appropriate land for erecting our own buildings, to meet this demand, to be able to give more effective and up-to-day service, to provide for social and sports areas, and to build a dormitory unit where parents can leave their children in a safe environment on a nightly basis as well, in cooperation with local administration offices.

In spite of its short history of only seven years, Our Kayseri Branch is proud to have reached a high level of multi-tasking in the education and rehabilitation services that it offers. In addition to the successes in the self care and hygiene education and training that we offer, our Branch excells in the significance that we give towards handcrafts and workshop activities. Our Family Education Programs have also had very positive results.

70 mentally handicapped children receive education here, at the status of a Special Education Course under auspices of the National Education Ministery. 27 of these students get this education as fully supported in all their needs, with no payback requested, by our Branch.

• 3 Special Education Classroom Teachers,
• 5 Auxiliary Classroom Teachers,
• 1 Professional Education Teacher,

• 3 Work Personnel.

Individual Education is conducted one on one, with each child, by our expert personnel experienced in their fields, following the data obtained from the tests and evaluations on each individual and the actions to be taken decided upon as based on these.

As this education is applied to all the children in our education Center, it is also ofered to those who may need to receive additional support education.

Groups are formed by bringing together the children who show approximate similarities as to their developmental levels and their special characteristics. In these groups, special education classroom teachers take the responsibility, serving within the boundaries set by our special Programs.

This therapy is applied to the mentally handicapped individuals, as well to others who may have physical handicaps, by our expert Physical Therapist. Along with the handicapped children, the necessary information is also offered to the families.

Reading and writing are taught to those children whose developmental level is up to these activities, by the teachers at our Center who have special education expertise in these areas.

The are programs conducted by our special work education teacher, with the purpose of exposing the creativity and strengthening hand skills in our students.

In addition, the galoshes/overshoes produced by our students in the workshops have been recognized and they are purchased by various firms, thus providing some contribution to the Foundation budget.

For special education to reach its goals and have continuity, family-school cooperation is very significant. This cooperation must be provided and secured so that what the child learns at school can be strengthened at home and he/she can apply these in his/her life. For this reason, great importance and dedication is directed towards the education of the family.

In addition to the education efforts for the family members in our education sessions, our psychologist holds individual meetings with the each family, to hear the problems they face and to propose solutions for these.

Our main goal as Kayseri Branch of the Foundation is to have a modern school building and facility where the physical conditions will be appropriate for our children, on our own land.

We also aim at reaching a larger number of new volunteers and creating a stronger family of dedicated people with them, to be able to continue the existence of our Branch and provide education and rehabilitation opportunities for more children who need this care.

We are indebted to many people during the establishment of the Kayseri Branch and for our existence until now.
