The Foundation headquarters, as a principle, expects local branches to be established through the efforts of local volunteers and parents of mentally handicapped children within various provinces and districts. All of our 15 active branches have been established in this manner. Each branch is governed by an executive board consisting of 5 volunteers and provides education and rehabilitation services to mentally disabled individuals in surrounding regions. The branches do not have their own judicial identities and their operations are overseen by the headquarters in Ankara. One of the primary goals of our Foundation was to establish branches in every province of Turkey. However, limitations imposed on new branches and member by new Turkish laws for non-profit organizations made it impossible for us to achieve this goal.
