Our Foundation in the Press
(We are in the process of translating this page to English. Please contact us if you would like to help)
Through the services we give to mentally handicapped children, we aim at having them and their disabilities recognized and accepted by the society, instead of rejection, so that all handicapped individuals can continue to have safe and secure lives, where ever they live. To reach this goal, in addition to our efforts and contributions, much responsibility falls to such media agents as published press, broadcasting, and television.
We should mention, with pleasure, that significant changes are taking place in the media approach of the past such as, “There is nothing we can do; celebrity news attract more attention”. Compared with the situation of ten years ago, the media is more sensitive to issues concerning the handicapped. We beleive that this is a result of the endless and selfless efforts of our Foundation members which have continued with their relentless persistence; we also beleive that the successes of our handicapped children and youth especially in sports events and competitions have been very effective, as these were highly publisized in the popular media.
In spite of this positive progress, we can say that the approach of the printed media has still not been sufficient enough to follow and publisize all developments and share the problems and achievements of handicapped individuals with a wide range of readers.
Civil service organizations like our Foundation deal with major social issues, face great problems to overcome. Therefore, we all expect the much needed support from the published media to be able to embrace with the public in our endeavor. To make our voice reach more people, we are happy to share some of the news about our Foundation, which have appeared in published news media, with you, on these pages.
