kalkanoglan.jpg

The education provided for our mentally handicapped students in our rehabilitation centers is a professional and systematic help process. The program is applied either one-to-one or in small groups. This process is aimed at providing our students with the ability to be self sufficient, the ability to establish and maintain personal and social relationships, the ability to achieve educational and professional development as well as at helping them cope with their day-to-day problems.

The education program is conducted through a multi-disciplinary approach. The education staff employed in our rehabilitation and education facilities include psychologists, special education specialists, physiotherapists, social services specialists, child development specialists, class teachers and finally professional education teachers aimed at students gaining professional abilities to become financially self sufficient.

In all of our education centers, the focus of the education programs is to teach the mentally handicapped student the necessary academic, professional and social skills that would enable him/her to function as a full individual as part of the society.

Non-Boarding (Day) Education Activities

The rehabilitation and education centers of all our branches conduct full day, session oriented personal and group education. No additional fees other than the support amount by the state are charged to the families. This way, the state financial support for the handicapped individual is transferred to be used in his/her education and rehabilitation within the foundation.

Boarding Education Activities

Our boarding education activities consist of individuals staying at our facilities 24 hrs. and is available only at our Ankara (Foundation Center) and Manisa branches.

  • The boarding service at the Foundation Center in Ankara provide a facility where mentally handicapped adult individuals can permanently stay after their parents are deceased. This service tries to answer the question of the parents: “What will happen after I die?”
  • When there is the need, the facility also provides a short term night stay service for a day or a weekend to our non-boarding students in order to provide a relief to their families.
  • In case there is no other local educational facility in their region, the Manisa Branch also provides a boarding education service to very young mentally handicapped male/female children in order to provide an early education chance for them.
